Jacob Liskowiak, DC
Applied Kinesiology Chiropractor
Dr. Jacob has always been fascinated by the brilliant design of the human body and has enjoyed learning about it from every angle. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and a Minor in Nutrition from the Miami University of Ohio. He began his career in the health field in 2004 as a personal and athletic trainer, where he developed a passion for empowering each person by teaching them as much as possible about their health and how to care for their bodies.
“Give a man a fish and feed him for a meal, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime” is a philosophy by which he has always and will always abide. He continues to discover and create new ways to teach patients how to heal themselves and rely less on external means.
Several health challenges that Jacob faced, as well as those of loved ones lead him down an exciting path of exploring many different healing modalities for answers. After finding Chiropractic, and specifically the technique called Applied Kinesiology, he had what he felt was the most comprehensive way to look at the inner workings of the human form and function. The technique satisfied his desire to honor the connectedness of the mind, body, and spirit.
Upon graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Florida in 2010, he spent one year practicing in Gainesville, Florida learning from an exceptional Applied Kinesiology Chiropractor. In 2011 he moved to St. Augustine, Florida and spent the next nine years running his own practice. In 2020 he felt drawn to move his practice to North Carolina to become a part of and serve the wonderful community of Carrboro. The last ten years of helping patients through their health challenges has been more rewarding and fullfiling than he could have ever imagined.
When Dr. Jacob is not in the office, he enjoys continuing to study and learn both new and ancient techniques in the healing arts, exploring nature trails, practicing yoga, playing guitar, and watching his lovely and talented wife in her artistic endeavors.
"Through the years we have increasingly given our power away to a health care system and authority figures that don’t honor the wisdom of the body. My goal is to return this power to you."
Dr. Jacob uses a Chiropractic technique called Applied Kinesiology, which simply means using muscle testing to assess how order can be restored to the body. During a session, the following factors and more are evaluated and treated: nervous system dysfunction, food sensitivities and nutritional deficiencies, immune system disorders, endocrine system and hormonal irregularities, digestive issues, stored emotional stressors, meridian discord, muscle imbalance, structural misalignments and more.
Dr. Jacob enjoys working with patients of any age that come in with any condition. An approach this thorough allows an in depth look into issues such as chronic or acute pain anywhere in the body, low energy, poor sleep, past surgeries and injuries, anxiety and depression, food intolerances, heartburn, gallblader dysfunction, sinus trouble, ADD/ADHD, high blood pressure, thyroid issues, blood sugar abnormalites, headaches, high cortisol, autoimmune diseases, heavy metal toxicity, neurological complications, and floroquinalone toxicity, among others.
Vertebrae, ribs, pelvis, sacrum, cranial bones, arms and legs are all evaluated for structural misalignemnts and corrected in the most gentle manner possible. Dr. Jacob has developed several ways to teach patients how to correct their own misalignments through the use of simple yoga postures and movements.
As much as he loves “fixing” things, he loves teaching a patient how to fix themselves even more! Empowering each patient is his highest goal and he will contintue to strive to find new ways of doing so. Through the years we have increasingly given our power away to a health care system and authority figures that don’t honor the wisdom of the body. Dr. Jacob’s goal is to return this power to you.
One hour is scheduled for each session. A thorough patient history will be taken and treatment will given on the first visit. Additionally, with the findings he gathers in a session he is able to guide a patient in lifestyle modification uniquely tailored to the individual. Nutritional counseling, exercise prescription, myofacial work, and trigger point therapy are used in his practice. Dr. Jacob is also a certified Reiki practicioner, enjoys studying the work of Donna Eden, and will incorporate work on the energy body when necessary.
For each session the charge is $100.
